Water is essential

Today our neighborhood had a little water crisis. I got several texts saying that the sub pump(or something like that) was broken and not to use the water for the dishwasher, washing machine, flush any water down the drains, etc.

Luckily I have been recycling old juice bottles, pop bottles etc. for quite a while. I even had some bottles of water waiting to be carried to the food storage room. So for once I wasn't worried. I was prepared. What a great feeling.   For my neighborhood, were you prepared? Or did you have a moment of sheer panic? It's better to prepare when the crisis is small then when the water is out of order for 3days or more.
Recycling plastic bottles is easy. Just rinse with hot water and fill with water from the sink. Milk jugs are not recommended because the plastic is so thin, it can rip and make a huge mess in your storage area. Micro isms can pass through the plastic because it is so thin.

The water I store in these bottles is not for drinking. I can use this water to clean with, water the garden, yard, and clean with it. I prefer to buy bottles water when it is on sale. The best price I have seen 24/12 ounce bottles for $1.99. I have been buying it at $2.50 for 24 bottles. The point is keep an eye on what is a great deal in your area and stock up when you can.

How much water do you store?
One gallon of drinking water per day/per person.
1/2 -1 gallon of non drinking water per day/per person
